How to use the AppGate Server web interface

Logging in

When starting the web interface, the login screen is presented. Follow these rules to log in:

  1. Fill in your username.
  2. Select authentication method. If you use nothing but a password to prove your identity, choose "Password".
  3. Fill in your password or token code.
  4. Click on the "Login" button.

If login fails

If you are not able to log in, some of your login information might be incorrect. Follow these rules to log in again:

  1. Verify your username.
  2. Verify that you can use the selected authentication method.
  3. Fill in your password or token code again.
  4. Click on the "Login" button.

Selecting a role

When you have authenticated yourself successfully and have more than one role to choose from, you are presented with a list of buttons representing roles. You must choose a role here. The role determines which services you are able to use.

Starting services

When you have authenticated yourself successfully and chosen a role, you will be presented with a list of services, represented by icons and links. When clicking on a link (or icon), the service is started in a new browser window.

Logging out

It is necessary, from a security perspective, to log out by clicking on the "Logout" button. Only closing the browser window does not prevent some other person from using your session when you have left the computer.

If there is a box labeled "Remember me", and it has been checked when logging out, the AppGate server will remember your username, authentication method and role on this computer. This information will be erased if you log out with the "Remember me" box unchecked.
